The Kitchen Window

It has always been kind of important to me to have a view from the kitchen sink. For over half of my adult life I didn't have any view and I sort of pined away for one. Finally in our last house I could look out on our side yard (and our neighbor's house). However, in our current house, my view includes the Little Conestoga Creek and the meadow beyond it. A few days ago I noticed the Canadian geese were feeding in the meadow. These geese can be seen in lots of places in Lancaster so they aren't really anything unusual, yet, being able to watch them from my kitchen window is very awe inspiring.

I took my camera outside and tried to see how close I could get to them. These photos are taken with my large zoom lens so I didn't get too close! Don't you love the white 'v' feathers that show up when the birds take off? It's those little things that I see in the birds that amaze me. Such beauty hidden underneath. I guess it's sort of like people. If we take the time to really look and get to know each other we find all sorts of hidden beauty. A little take away on this Sunday morning.
