Lately I've been realizing just how much I've been feeling submerged. Not quite to the stage of drowning, but underwater, certainly. Much of it is my own doing. Being a teacher in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge. I won't go into everything I have to do, all the added responsibilities, the hardships of mask wearing, etc. I've felt a heavy weight since September about it.
It is now almost mid-November and I've determined to do some things to get my nose out of the water. Last weekend I cleared my sewing room of all papers related to school. That alone was a relief. I've lesson planned and gotten myself organized enough to make it through Thanksgiving break.
I've decided to focus each week on something I signed up for in February. In that distant past I enrolled in a free photography course called 'A Year With My Camera'. Mostly I just kept the emails and said, "I'll work on this later." Well, I've decided it's later. I'm going to take it all at my own pace. I've bought a blank book for the purpose of note taking (because I remember better after I write).
The first optional activity is to take 30 photographs using prompts. The only requirement is to think about the photo before taking it. I usually do this anyway but thought it would be interesting to follow the prompts. I also am editing some of the photos, mostly for color, in iPhoto. I have to admit I'm not exactly sure that I'm using the prompts in the way they were intended, but then again, who am I doing this for but me so it really doesn't matter, does it?
Here are my first 11, taken on Sunday, November 8, 2020:
