New Year

Happy New Year 2020. That number, 2020, seems so futuristic somehow. Yet, here we are, living in the present. It seems for so many years I was always looking forward, living for the next thing to happen, for a new stage in my life.
So, this year, 2020, I'm going to live for the moment, to take things slow, to enjoy the everyday.
On New Year's Day I started the day with a walk. In every house I've lived in I've had a walking route. It was time to find one in our new home. Just the walk from my front door to the end of our street (which feels more like a private, tree-lined lane because the road is a dead end) is half a mile. There is a little nature park another 3/4 of a mile up the road. In the park are a few different paths that wind through trees, a small wetland and by a creek (the same one that flows beside our home). It is really a quite lovely place to walk. So I think this will be one of my new walking routes.
We had our two sons over for a lunch of turkey, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our younger son had been lamenting the lack of roast and potatoes at Christmas. In recent years I've just made something easy for Christmas because of our church responsibilities. A roast would just be too much for me. We all decided this should be our new tradition. Just the four of us, a fancy luncheon and then a movie. We saw the new Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker. We thought it was a pretty good day over all.
New house, new traditions, new year. Welcome 2020. I'm looking forward to you.
